UFC on FOX Potential Main Events

After this weekend's PPV, there will be about 2.5 months until UFC's entry into the world of network television. In what could be a turning point for the company, I can't see them doing anything but providing two big fights. Let's assume they make Guida v.s Henderson the first fight of the night. What are you thoughts on potential headliners? I think there are plenty of possibilities. The one caveat is that none of these are sure things. Something must happen such as a signing or quick recovery for these fights to take place

Brock Lesnar v. Frank Mir III

- If Lesnar was "back" like he said he was a week ago, that'd give him 3 months to train for a fight. He has the name to carry any event.

Overeem v. Mir

- I don't think this has a ton of name recognition, but two huge guys and being for a #1 contendership could likely sell the fight.

Overeem v. Lesnar

- Unlikely imo, as I'd imagine they want something Lesnar would be more comfortable with in his return, but it's a possibility. The two biggest guys in the UFC (assuming UFC signs Overeem) fighting for a shot at the title. Champ vs former champ, etc. Easy sell.

Henderson v. Machida

- Bring in Henderson and have two #1 contender fights on the card.

Shogun Rua vs Machida III

- Only way this happens is if Rua gets a 1st rd KO/Submission over Forrest without taking any damage. He'd then have 2.5 months to prepare for a #1 contender bout.

Griffin vs Machida

- Same situation as Rua.

Silva v. Henderson II

- If Silva gets a Belfort-esque win, 2.5 months could be enough, and Hendo is no stranger to MW.

Silva vs Okami II

- If Okami pulls off the upset, obviously pending damage done, they could book an immediate rematch.

I think after this weekend, many of these will be eliminated and we'll have a better idea on what's possible. That is of course if UFC is looking to go big. They may just headline with Guida/Henderson and then this speculation is all for naught.

I doubt it would happen but if Silva wins I think scrapping Sonnen vs Stann and doing Silva vs Stann on the first Fox card would be smart. Silva has the name, Stann is very popular, and it is likely to have a very exciting finish.

Agreed. Fight would certainly work. It would kind've dick Stann over, but I guess you could see if Belfort would step in against Stann. Lots of maneuvering, but possible.

I'm still thinking maybe tito and rich. Bendo and Clay maybe though too.

I would love for it to be Brock/Overeem with Clay/Bendo as the lead in fight.

Either way you slice it - I think Clay/Bendo is the lead in fight for another fight on the card.

I think it should be too, but what do we know? If the other fights are too big to do for free they may be able to justify saving them for a PPV. I think they'll make a bang though.
