1 hour, 1 fight????

I just do not understand this start to Network TV for the UFC, why is it only one hour? Why is it only 1 fight? How much of a build up before the fight?

What if the fight is over in the fist minute?

I am not really understanding this first event on Fox.

Thoughts?

The pacquiao fight is on PPV later in the evening is the main reason.

Also, with commercials, there is only going to be 44 minutes of time to fill. There will be an introductory to UFC/MMA I'm sure, and the execs said that they might show a preliminary fight or highlight package of the nights earlier fights if time permits.

With the announcement of Cain/JDS, the said would just be scheduled for the 1 fight.

yup. There will be at least 15 minutes of commercials, maybe more since its the valuable debut show. They have to allow 40-45 minutes for the main event in case it goes the distance ( 5 minutes for walk in and ring intros, 5 rounds of 5 minutes, 1 minute between rounds, and an extra 5 in case a nutshot delay happens and 5 minutes for post fight interviews).

And Fox will load up the commercials at the beginning to make sure they make the sponsors happy since fans may tune out after the fight is over.

If the fight ends early they show highlights and more commercials. If they show a 2nd fight it has to be pre-taped and deemed worthy enough to spend the time on.
