Big Nog vs Mir

Str8Ryt2011-09-09 20:18:15 +0000 #1
A heavyweight standoff between two big names has been booked for December, as former UFC heavyweight champions Minotauro Nogueira and Frank Mir have verbally agreed to rematch at UFC 140 in Toronto.

"Both men are known as two of the premiere submission specialists in the division but have shown dangerous striking skills as well," said UFC president Dana White.

I was thinking this was the only main event left for Toronto. I guess I should have said so.

Toronto is a hot market, and it's cool to see Big Nog live before he hangs them up. Hope the fans up there are happy with this one.

Great fight - and I'm sure Nog is looking forward to the rematch.

I think that Nog is easily the better fighter and will avenge the loss.

I see this fight going the same way the first one did. I think Frank has gotten a little better and Nogs chin has gotten worse.

Nog will definitely go down in history as the better fighter, but at this point in their careers, I have to go with Mir. Nog is just too beat up and has too many miles on him.

Re: Frank Mir being better.

I don't agree. I think Mir is more or less the fighter he always was. He got obliterated by Carwin, and the CroCop fight was a loss for everyone.

Nog had a gnarly staff infection when he fought Mir - and I'm inclined to think he would have won with a full camp. Outside of Mir, he's only been blasted by Cain - so I'm not sure how much evidence there is to support the "sky is falling" on Nog theory.
