An undisclosed injury has forced Dave "Pee Wee" Herman (21-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) out of a UFC 136 bout with Mike Russow (14-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC), officials today announced.

As a result, a long-awaited rematch between featherweights Leonard Garcia (15-7-1 MMA, 2-3 UFC) and Nam Phan (16-9 MMA, 0-2 UFC) has taken its spot on the night's pay-per-view main card.

UFC 136 takes place Oct. 8 at Houston's Toyota Center.

Officials recently booked Garcia vs. Phan II when Phan's original opponent, Matt Grice, was forced off the card with an injury,

That fight initially was slated for the preliminary card. As MMAjunkie.com ( www.mmajunkie.com: www.mmajunkie.com ) first reported, Spike TV will air a "UFC Prelims" special for UFC 136, but Garcia and Phan wasn't slated for that one-hour cable special. So they'll go from an expected Facebook stream to main-card slots.

Phan, a semifinalist on "The Ultimate Fighter 12," suffered the controversial split-decision loss to Garcia at the show's live finale back in December. Although seemingly the more composed and effective fighter in the bout, Garcia lost the fight via scores of 29–28, 27–30 and 29–28. It was widely panned as one of the year's worst decisions.

The latest UFC 136 card now includes:

MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view)

Champ Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard (for lightweight title)

Champ Jose Aldo vs. Kenny Florian (for featherweight title)

Chael Sonnen vs. Brian Stann

Melvin Guillard vs. Joe Lauzon

Leonard Garcia vs. Nam Phan

PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike TV)

Demian Maia vs. Jorge Santiago

Anthony Pettis vs. Jeremy Stephens

PRELIMINARY CARD

Joey Beltran vs. Stipe Miocic

Darren Elkins vs. Tiequan Zhang

Eric Schafer vs. Aaron Simpson

Steve Cantwell vs. Mike Massenzio

Surprised Pettis-Stephens wasnt moved to the main card and Phan/Garcia 2 put on spike instead

Surprised to see Maia on Spike, but I guess he is going to win by decision so it wont be anything exciting. They could have put the Chinese guy on Spike too, UFC can give him some exposure. In all it looks like a great card.

Looks to me like they want to fire Garcia.

I think the only reason Garcia has kept his job was so that they could make the Phan rematch.

Phan/Garcia 1 was a very good fight that got some great exposure for both fighters on free TV. The controversial judging on top of it has given the rematch more profile then could otherwise be expected. Promoting Garcia / Phan 2 to the main card is a very reasonable move to make here.

Anthony Pettis being on Spike instead of the main card is not necessarily a bad thing for Pettis. He gets paid the same no matter what, and there is an argument to be made that being on the free to air portion of the show is better for him in terms of exposure and sponsorship then being on an early fight in the main card.

END COMMUNICATION

To be entirely honest the top 3 fights on this card don't need any other fight on it at all.

Stephens and Pettis on the prelims... card is stacked.
