Condit vs. Koscheck is signed

It's booked for UFC 143 in Vegas next February.

War Condit!!!

After Carlos Condit was bumped from his welterweight title shot against Georges St. Pierre by a mean-mugging Nick Diaz following Cesar Gracie fighter's UFC 137 win over B.J. Penn, he was promised a number one contender bout on the very same Feb. 4, 2012, Super Bowl weekend fight card.

And now he's got it.

That's because UFC President Dana White today revealed at the UFC 138 post-fight press conference that Condit is booked for the card and he'll be taking on recent title challenger Josh Koscheck at UFC 143 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

For his part, "Kos" is ecstatic:

"Yep, when I talk..... i get... Feb 4th weekend Vegas

I will be fighting!!!!!!!!!!! Thx you DW!"

Are you feeling this fight as much as Koscheck?

Since a split decision loss to start his UFC career, Condit has ripped off four consecutive victories, three by way of knockout. He's steadily been racking up as many bonuses as he has bodies, leaving an impressive trail of destruction in his wake.

That's why it was so easy to give him the title shot against St. Pierre when Diaz flaked out of a few press conferences.

But demand for the Stockton slugger's services are at an all time high, including "Rush" specifically requesting a bout with him first, so "The Natural Born Killer" will have to go all homicidal on someone else.

Enter Koscheck.

The hardest working man in the welterweight division was last in action this past Sept. 24 in a first round knockout victory over Matt Hughes.

It was his first fight back since getting his face broken at the hands of St. Pierre last December. He was a bit timid, naturally, but as soon as he settled into his old rhythm and took a few punches, he looked like his old self.

Now it's back into the fire against Condit.

Here we go.

UFC 143 will take place on Feb. 4, 2012, likely at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be headlined by the previously mentioned match-up pitting St. Pierre vs. Diaz. Condit vs. Koscheck will presumably serve as the co-main event of the evening.

Stay tuned to for more on this still-developing fight card.

Condit risks his title shot againts an opponent who can easy be a spoiler.

But, Kos/Diaz for the belt would be a good fight to.

If Condit can manage to pull this off (I don't think he will) I think his stock raises ten fold and I'd give him a much bigger chance against GSP than I originally did.

Great fight. I'll take Kos in it.

I think Diaz loses to GSP then loses to Kos. Then Kos gets hammered by GSP again

i think Condit has a legit chance. Kos isnt the striker people make him out to be, he wings power shots and he has a solid ground game. Condit is more complete and only loses if he gets wrestled IMO. For those with a short memory Hughes was out striking Kos before his chin gave
