This fight should be off the charts!

Great matchmaking.

Funny, Ariel just had an article today and said these guys should fight each other next.

I think Alves takes this. I really like kampmann a lot, and I think he has been screwed over a couple of times that would have already seen him get a title shot. However, he won't have a big technique edge over alves, and struggles with guys who come forward and back him up against the fence.

Kampann needs to utilize his underrated wrestling/grappling to win this fight.

I like Kampmann's grappling, but I don't think he's near good enough to get Alves down and hold him there or sub him.

On the feet, again, I like his striking, but he struggles when brawlers are aggressive with him. When someone as skilled as Alves being aggressive, he's going to get KTFO. I think this is a really, really terrible matchup for him.

I mean, Paul Daley smashed him. Alves should, too.

This isn't quite yet a #1 contenders match (it would've been a couple of years back, but not right now), so my theory about Kampmann winning everything but #1 contender matches means that Kampmann takes this.

I agree that Kampmann has trouble with aggressive guys, but I think he's slowly learning to deal with that. Story is known for his aggressive style, and he managed that. He has the ability to come in with a better plan, get an unexpected early take down (as we know, Thiago sucks off of his back) and go from there.

Story, Fitch and GSP have demonstrated the template to beat Thiago Alves. While I don't think Kampmann can directly copy that, I think he can learn enough from it to come in with a good game plan. He's learned not to rely on his standup alone, methinks.

Close fight, I'm leaning towards Alves though.
