P4P rankings on this site make no sense....

As of 12/10 they have GSP #1 - "GSP stays on top" the title of the article reads.

Then by 8/11 they have Silva #1 - "Silva stands far above the rest" the article reads.

So I don't get this...bc after the article where GSP was #1 he went on to beat Shields who was probably his hardest fight yet and he dominated him!! And Silva coming off the 4 round ass whooping of Sonnen (even though he won the fight, it was not a show of dominance) but then he went on to beat Vitor and Okami. Yes these were dominant fights but Vitor "got caught" and Okami looked scared to even be in there.

I'm clearly a GSP fan but if you are basing these rankings off skill and dominance GSP should still be #1. I personally do not include "finishing rate" into my P4P argument so the fact that GSP isn't finishing means nothing to me. Silva is a BEAST though...its certainly close, but Silva got ragdolled for 4 rounds by Sonnen and CLEARLY has a hole in his game when it comes to wrestling.....GSP has no holes.

Im prepared to get flamed for this....so let's hear it

P4P is stupid in my opinion.

It's irrelevant fantasy.

It's also retarded to even insinuate that Vitor "got caught".

And there was a reason Okami was so tentative.

They're 1a and 1b - interchangeable.

Really? I think that's exactly what happened! Vitor got caught (meaning he got clipped with a big shot and dropped, the same as Cain did and just like CroCop did vs Gonzaga etc) he did not get dominated round after round.

So YEP, he "got caught"

Okami was tenative bc he felt out matched....his takedowns were half assed and he gave up on them. He had no head movement, no footwork etc He basically waited around to lose....IMVHO

"Getting caught" insinuates that they were on their way to winning the fight or were ahead and they "got caught" and got dropped.

NOT the case with Vitor.

Not the case with Cain.

DEFINITELY not the case with CroCop (who was dominated from start to finish).

So no, he didn't "just get caught."

Ooooooooooooooooor it could be that Okami was just so overmatched and overwhelmed and had nothing to offer Silva. That could be it too.

I disagree. I think those are all examples of a guy getting caught. You don't have to be on your way to winning to "get caught."

The way you describe it is one way of getting caught, but I also consider it a fight that ends early without both guys really testing each other. See GSP/Serra, Yvel/Goodrich, Maia/Marquardt, etc.
