Michael Bisping did his best to throw people off the scent, but the British middleweight will be making an instant return to the Octagon when he fights Demian Maia at UFC on Fox 2 in January.

The fight had been reported after Bisping revealed he was travelling to Chicago, the venue for the next Fox card. However, he then replied to a series of tweets denying his trip to Chicago was linked to the announcement of his next fight.

The UFC has now confirmed to ESPN though that Bisping will fight Maia, on a stacked card also featuring Rashad Evans v Phil Davis and Chael Sonnen v Mark Munoz.

"Just days after defeating fellow TUF coach Jason "Mayhem" Miller, Mike Bisping's next fight has been confirmed," said a UFC statement.

"Bisping will meet Demian Maia at UFC on Fox 2. The event on January 28 in Chicago, Illinois, will also feature two other huge fights: Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis and Chael Sonnen vs. Mark Munoz."

It looks like they're kinda trying to manufacture stars again, which I guess is good. Obviously the plan is: If Chael wins, he gets the shot. If Chael Loses, but Bisping wins, then Bisping gets the shot. If Chael loses, AND Bisping loses, then Munoz gets the shot. Under no circumstances will Maia ever in his life get another shot.

Likewise, they're hoping that Jones beats Machida, so they can book a Rashad-Jones money match. This will backfire because Machida will win, and Rashad-Davis might be boring. LOL if Davis wins.

Okay bro, you're hijacking a perfectly good Bisping thread with your Machida bromance. Seek professional help.
