Single best year for any MMA Fighter prior to 2011?

Just watching the UFC 140 preview video on the main page and they suggest that if Jon Jones wins at UFC 140 he will have had the single best year for any fighter. Ok, I think I can buy into that.

But setting that aside, which fighter do you think has had an especially good year prior to this year?

Objectively I would have to go with Randy Couture in 1997. He won a heayvweight tournament for UFC 13, won a UFC heavyweight title eliminator vs Belfort at UFC 15, and then took the belt at UFC Japan.
