How many miles per day do you do?

I try and go out on my bike most days but inevitably run out of time to go too far, OK, also run of steam!

An average ride each day during the week for me varies from 10 to 18 miles, half on and half off road, with several hills.

Just curious what some of you manage, I have a sneaky feeling it is a hell of a lot more.

Only found this site today and it's really great, so informative.

Welcome, Sally! For a really indepth stalking experience into our riding lives, check out www.bikejournal.com: www.bikejournal.com . Many of us log our rides there under the team "Team Estrogen" (or a variety of others) and make our ride journals public. Our riding goals are all over the spectrum.

I wish I could get out "most days". I ride 3 - 4x a week. My rides start at the trail head. I generally ride from 10 - 16 miles. These rides are anywhere from two hours to 3.5 hours. Average mph is anywhere from 5 to 7. That means a lot of heavy climbing. I don't worry about how many miles. I'm just out there to be fit and have fun. I figure if I did a road ride at the same intensity I would be riding more like 50 miles per ride. It's comparing apples to oranges IMO.

Gosh, it all depends on my schedule. If I have to work both jobs I may be able to sneak 15 miles in if that is even possible. If I only have to work at my full-time job I'm typically finished by 4:00 and I can get in 25-30 miles. Somedays all I can manage is the 2 mile commute from home to work and the return 2 miles in the afternoon. On a work free day I shoot for 30-60 miles if at all possible. This summer when I wasn't working at all I rode just about every day, averaging around 30 miles each ride. Heck, I simply feel lucky to get a ride in now that I'm back to juggling my two jobs and daily responsibilities.

Yep, I second checking us out at BJ.

Typical routine? I don't have one. I had 17 rides in August, a mixture of mountain biking and road. Road rides were as short as 4.1 miles (my commute) and ranged up to 198 miles.

Mountain bike rides were 5.3 - 24.5 miles long. All my rides involve a good amount of climbing.

I've been lazy this weekend and haven't ridden at all.

I only ride on the trails. They are all sinletrack, so my totals are very different from some of the girls that are mixing in road riding as well. Also I ride with a very, very fast group of guys, so I have to have recovery time because it is really hard.

Sounds like I am making excuse....HA...Actually I am very proud of the length and quality of the rides we have been doing.

Anyway twice a week:

one mid-week ride, usually around 16 miles, usually about 1.5 hours

one weekend ride, usually 20-30 miles anywhere up to 3 hours.

Those times are actual ride time on the bike computer

I aslo trail run and lift weights.....

I bike commute so I ride every day - 12 miles round trip. This year I haven't been as motivated to ride on the weekends like I was last, but a weekend ride could be anywhere from 15 - 100 miles depending on my mood and who I'm with.

It turned cold here over the past weekend (the highs yesterday barely reached the 70s) so getting out on my bike was really not something I was looking forward too!

Summer and Winter riding are two different things. In winter I usually do a road and a MTB ride on the weekend. The road ride is usually 35 - 40 miles the MTB ride around 10 - 15.

During the summer I can also ride during the week. MTB rides are usually 8 - 10 and road, depending on when I get on the bike, 15 - 30. Sometimes, especiialy early summer I can do an 40 miler.

In the winter when I'm limited to weekend rides, I do a spin class 2 - 3 times a week.
