Run to the Hills: Week of May 25th Runs

Taking advantage of the lull at work to post (don't know where time has gone lately).

Running still going well, my big trail race is on Saturday 31st (hence the thread title), wibble wibble.

I am in a taper type week this week though I did our Clubs 10 mile road race on Sunday 25th. It was quite enjoyable even if it was all tarmac! I have blogged about the race so I won't bore you with the details of it here.

I finally have started the blog of my training I have been meaning too for ages as OH is away in Oz for the next few weeks and the time difference is making things difficult regarding phone calls, think he just wants to check I'm not overdoing it. I was also writing more and more in the notes section of my online training log which was starting to look silly, I'll keep the log for the hard facts from now on.

Only three miles tonight, no hills/trails and slowly (are you listening self?), then a short MTB ride tomorrow night (again are you listening self?) then rest Thursday and Friday.

Happy Running everyone.

I ran a 10k this weekend. I finished with a time of 55:47 which comes out to average 8:58/mile---I am so thrilled! This is my first 10k where I ran under 9 minute miles

AND I finished 47 out of a 117 women in my age group. It marks the first time in a race of this size that I finished in the top 50%

I posted a race report on my new blog: momrunningon.blogspot.com/ (finally jumping on the band wagon).

Today I am going to do an easy 4 mile run through the 'hood, all flat and no hills. It should be enjoyable.

OMG - total 80's metal flashback. Where's my bleached mullet and black and white concert baseball t-shirt?

Limewave, that is incredible!!!

One of these days I will be faster. It's getting there. Kinda.

Last night I did a 9 mile or 90 minute run, whatever came first. It was difficult and not difficult. It felt good though by the end I was tired! I was able to do 8.2 miles in 90 minutes. Keeping in mind that I crossed streets (had to wait a few seconds for cars sometimes) and go up and down a few flights of stairs, I'm not THAT disappointed by it. I also had worked all day too...

Anyway when I got home, I don't believe I've ever been so sweaty in my whole life. My hair was dripping so much I thought it was rain

It's all good.

My half-mary is on Saturday. I know I won't do the time I initially thought I'd do (somehow last year I thought I could get to under 2 hours) but I think I'll do ok and I know I'll have fun. It's to the point that even if I'm tired, I just keep going and it feels good in a really fatigued/painful/wonderful way.

Lime that's awesome!!

Teigyr - you'll do great. It doesn't matter what happens... it's a PR and you've already won because you put in all the work to get you here. I'm proud of you.

eek - double brick with the club today.

that's 25min bike /10 min run and the same over again. I was riding 30-32 all the time but had no chance against the guys, and the iron girls/marathoners. Oh well.

I am satisfied for being able to handle my bike, and run off it. I'll still suck this year at my races compared to these uber-athletes, but I'll suck less.

Yes. I think I can call it running again. yay. No more tiptoeing.
