Please allow me to whine a bit. I have had problems with my left foot since April. It didn't hurt enough when I ran to affect my stride but would swell and was painful after a run. I finally went to the dr last week and got the results of my MRI tonight. I have tendonitis in 5 tendons in my foot with a partial tear in one of them. I've been referred to a foot specialist and we will go from there.

I am planning my final triathlon this Saturday--a pool sprint at my home gym, a duathlon the next week, a biathlon the week after that and am two weeks into half-marathon training for the St. Jude's Marathon in December. I was so pumped because I had set a PR in a 5k last Saturday with a 10:30 average--which has been my goal since I started running...I just wanted to run under an 11 mm and I finally did it and now this. I'm so bummed!

Has anyone else ever had a similar injury?

I haven't had tendonitis, but that stinks!!! Here's to a speedy recovery.

Yeap. I ran a 10k in June of 09 - not just a PR, but ran negative splits AND beat my younger sister for the only time on record. Ended up with posterior tibial tendinitis in both ankles & ended up running just one more race all summer. Bleh. I fixed that by overcompensating elsewhere in my form & had IT band/hip flexor problems all of last fall (and the most painful marathon ever).

Ya know what, maybe having to re-learn how to run this winter isn't so bad after all...

Good to take care of it now. If you do the therapy as prescribed you'll be back in top shape in no time! And hopefully you'll work with a therapist who can help prevent future injuries too.
