Nate Marquardt didn't have to wait too long for the UFC to find him a new opponent, but he will have to wait a little bit longer for the fight to happen. Brazilian fighter Rousimar Palhares is in talks to face Marquardt in August...

The fight is currently in the works, although no bout agreements have been issued or signed at this time. The possibility of the fight was confirmed to by sources close to the bout on Tuesday. Joe Ferraro from Sportsnet first mentioned the possibility of the fight on Tuesday.

Rumors have placed the fight on either the August 7 card or possibly the August 28 card in Boston, but neither has been confirmed at this time.

Marquardt was originally set to compete at UFC 116 in July opposite American Top Team striker Alessio Sakara, but the passing of Sakara's father forced the Italian to take some time off to be with family back home.

The Colorado native is currently 8-3 during his time with the UFC, and lost a bid to get a shot at champion Anderson Silva in his last fight, dropping a unanimous decision in a hard fought battle with Chael Sonnen. Marquardt has been at home helping teammates like Shane Carwin and Rashad Evans prepare for upcoming fights as well.

Rousimar Palhares (11-2) will look to move his 3-fight winning streak to 4 victories in a row when he steps into the August fight. In his most recent fight, Palhares made quick work of Tomasz Drwal by heel hook in less than a minute, but felt the brunt of the New Jersey Athletic Commission as he was suspended afterwards for not releasing the hold immediately when the referee tapped him for the stop.

The fight is still in negotiations, but if it's made official it's likely that Marquardt and Palhares would make the main televised broadcast for either pay-per-view in August. will have more information about the upcoming show in Oakland as it becomes available.

If Harris has cardio, Nate might be in for some serious problems.

Palhares is a beast, but I just can't see Nate coming in nothing but unstoppable here.

Nate just might KO his ass!
