Rampage vs Hammil, Not Rashad, Who Will Wait for Shogun/Jones

Although reports of Thiago Silva failing a drug test are still unconfirmed, it appears he has in fact been taken out of his UFC 130 bout against Quinton Jackson and has been reportedly replaced by Matt Hamill.

MMAWeekly.com brought word of the change earlier today.

That's much to the chagrin of Jackson though, as he tweets the following:

"I'm not interested in Fighting Matt,I rather fight Rashad,I have un finished business with him."

Hamill was previously slated to square off against Phil Davis at UFC 129 but it should be noted that as early as yesterday, that bout was pulled from the company website.

Although his current five-fight winning streak is slightly marred by a DQ win over Jon Jones in which The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) veteran was clearly getting his ass handed to him, "The Hammer" has put together impressive performances against the likes of former mentor and TUF coach Tito Ortiz and rising middleweight star Mark Munoz.

Hamill's career has been a tale in improvement and he'll need his all-around game in full force if he's to put up a fight against the heavy handed "Rampage."

Star-divide

Jackson has been on a roller coaster (at least in the media) as of late. He accepted a fight against the previously mentioned Silva for UFC 130 but an injury to Rashad Evans forced an opening at UFC 128 against Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio Rua.

The UFC came calling asking if "Rampage" wanted the title shot. "Shogun" blew the lid off, before Page explained he was simply too big to cut the necessary weight in time.

Then the news of Silva's issues with the NSAC brought word that he would need a new opponent and rumors were quick to fly that he would rematch Evans.

Not so fast.

Now it looks like he finally has an opponent in Hamill, who will bring a strong wrestling game that Jackson has struggled with at times in the past. Can the boxer make it a brawl and punch his way to a title shot?

UFC 130 is set to be the promotion's annual Memorial Day Weekend event. The main event will feature the third (and likely final) showdown between Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar and disgruntled challenger Gray Maynard.

Stay tuned to MMAMania.com for any updates as they become available.

That's just ridicolous, Phil Davis got fucked. I would have rather seen him against Rampage even though it's soon, then Hamill.

I don't mind Davis getting shafted, they could give him another fight a little lower than Hammil's caliber.

Yeah but it is getting a bit repetitive.

I'd like to see him face Bader if Bader took no damage, but I doubt that'd happen.

I like Hamill but he'll never be a top contender by any means. Granted I will be cheering heavily for him to beat Rampage. That'd be hilarious if Rampage was soundly dominated. His fans would probably cry.

I like the Bader idea. Stephan Bonnar, Brilz, Matyushenko, or Sosyznski would be interesting as well.
