Tito Ortiz has been forced to pull out of his fight against Antonio Rogerio Noguiera at UFC Fight Night 24 on March 26 due to "getting stitches," according to Dana White.

"The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" tweeted shortly after the announcement saying:

"22 stitches and a bad concussion sucks but I will heal and be better soon."

Stepping in to replace him will be Phil Davis, who is reportedly "pumped" for this opportunity at such a high profile main event fight airing free on Spike TV.

Davis is coming off a "wonderful" performance against Tim Boetsch at UFC 123: "Rampage vs. Machida" back in November, sending "The Barbarian" back to the stone age via second round Philmura.

The victory was the eighth straight for the NCAA champion and four-time All American out of Harrisburg, PA. In addition to Boetsch, Davis steamrolled Brian Stann, Alexander Gustafsson and Rodney Wallace under the UFC banner following his 2010 debut.

He's went from a fight against Matt Hamill to Jason Brilz and now to his first headlining bout with the world's largest fight promotion against Nogueira. Is he ready?

Star-divide

Nogueira is also coming off a defeat, a unanimous decision to surging division contender Ryan Bader at UFC 119 last September. While the loss snapped a seven-fight winning streak, Rogerio has also been criticized for what was perceived as a poor showing in a split decision win over Jason Brilz at UFC 114 back in May.

"Lil' Nog" doesn't have anything to prove in terms of his accomplishments in the sport of mixed martial arts, but he may have a lot to prove to the fans if he is expected to be considered competitive in the promotion's stacked 205-pound weight class.

Quelling the uprising of a top prospect like Davis would certainly accomplish that.

UFC Fight Night 24 is all set to do down at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington, with Davis vs. Nogueira serving as the main event of the evening. Other action on the card will feature Dan Hardy vs. Anthony Johnson and Leonard Garcia vs. Nam Phan.

"Due to getting stitches"?

Are you kidding me?

Dude is trying to stay in the UFC as long as he can, I thought Lil Nog would have won this one.

Oh well, Davis may catch a break here if he wins.

HELL YEAH !!! for Philly Davis ......

yeah i'm a huge Tito fan

and i would rather watch Tito beat Rogerio

but since he's hurt, i'm so glad the UFC is finally giving Davis his shot at a big time opponent and someone who is more than just a LHW gatekeeper. I think the UFC has given Phil good enough opponents in those 4 fights (going 4-0 in that run beating Stann-Gustafsson-Wallace-& Boetsch) that it's probably a good time for him to get a "NAME" fighter.

The 2 luckiest fighter's in the world right about now are Philly Davis and Matty Hamill

they are scheduled to fight each other at UFC 129 in Toronto.

Next thing we know it Thiago Silva pulls out of the UFC 130 card vs Rampage Jackson in Vegas and then BOOM Matt Hamill gets the fight of his lifetime vs Rampage as a Co-Main Event. then Tito Ortiz pulls out of his fight at UFC Fight Night 24 vs Rogerio Nogueira and BOOM again Phil Davis gets the fight of his lifetime vs Rogerio as the Main Event.

those 2 lucky fuckers

I think Davis gets this to the ground for a decision win, Lil Nog can't get a break lately.

Well besides the Brilz decision

Good lord this act is getting so old. I really do think he's pulling this shit over and over just so he can stay in the UFC even just for name sake. He knows that once he loses his next fight that he's over with for good in the UFC. As long as he's there on paper he can keep doing interviews and acting like he's on some come back. He's the most pathetic fighter of all time at this point.

I think you gotta give him a break here... And trust me im no Tito fan AT ALL but if you have ever had a concussion then you know they aren't fun and they should be taken seriously. You aren't even allowed to workout for a while when you have a concussion, especially not training MMA. I wouldn't want to be training for a little bit before I go in and face Lil Nog, you would probably want to have a good camp and good training before that and you can't do that if you aren't even training.

I do agree with you that he is done in the UFC, and has been for a while. He should have left a while ago because his body is crumbling apart.
