Pain in the sitting bone / lower back

yogabeginner2010-07-04 18:08:00 +0000 #1

Recently I have started getting pain in the bone between the buttocks. It hurts only when I sit. Ususally I sit for long time at work. Can someone suggest any yoga pose that will help in getting rid of the pain? I do not get this pain when I sit on a soft seat or a couch. Is it happening bcoz of my sitting position or is it because of the wrong chair.

I see this is your first post. Welcome to the board.

There are several elements in your post I'd like to touch on.

The first is that you are posing a therapeutic question. Therapeutic questions require much more information to be shared in order to facilitate a sound answer (a reply with more than anecdotal opinion). In almost every case, injury needs to be assessed in person, visually, by a highly trained teacher.

The internet prohibits such things (for now) which is why so much more information is needed about you and the issue you are having. Are you male, female, older, younger, fit, sedentary? Is the pain sharp, pulsing, constant, periodic?

Second is that we cannot determine from this post what the nature of your yoga practice is, or if there is one at all. Without that, providing feedback cannot be crafted to your level of expertise.

Finally, yoga postures or poses are not prescription drugs. They really cannot be doled out like an aspirin. So the short answer is "no there is no yoga pose to fix the thingie you mention". However a yoga practice can support the healing process in the body. But that really wasn't your question

Have you tried slipping your shoes off and sitting cross legged on the chair?
