Practice yoga, and it will wake. All other informnation is just talk, and thus, totally useless.

Start by yama and niyama. Observe it for a week. Start a diary, to check your progress. Identify personal weaknesses. Deal with them. This will create good foundation for asana practice. Than when you are strong, and balanced enough, start pranayama. Of course all this time you need to be prepared to face your own karma. Personal life is guided by karma. Some karmic events will push you off this road. Trust the wisdom of your karma. Study, read genuine spiritual literature. All religions have some kind of scripture, that will do it, as they passed the test of time. There is no shortcut, no fast course, no trick. Even the mentioned bases need years to develop ... surely some have better fates, and other worse, but generally, when I say years, that is true.

There are ways to tackle into things one is not ready for, but they are extremely dangerous. So when they say kundalini yoga can be practiced by a knowledgable master only, they are perfectly right.

For me the real question is ... why would I need kundalini at all ? Where am I lacking ? Why this level I use day by day, is not enough ? Why do I want more ? What would I do with more power ? Because kundalini is power.

What I learnt, the more power I have, the greater the temptation is to use it in a selfish way. So I do not want more power, because I even abuse the little power I have now. I am terrified by the thought what temptations greater power would bring. Imagine the level of detachment, self control, willpower, self-sacrifice needed to resist such temptations.

Sadly, we gain these traits by being tempted ... that we cannot escape ... but better face them well prepared, with a solid grounding.

In my opinion you are right stating that first you have to purify yourself,

with yama and niyama.

However, Kundalini power (like any yoga power) is not meant to be used

for siddhis, to get the uppper hand in relations with other people.

My understanding is that Kundalini yoga is actually Laya yoga, the power of

dissolution of your karmas.

I watched in 2008 a TV documentary in Canada. A guy was running the marathon (42 km and 195 meters) in subarctic temperatures of minus 30

degrees centigrades. The point: he was running just naked, only with undetrshirts and shoes. He was not an yoga practitioner.

It is known that many yogis in Himalayas are summarily dressed. What else than Kundalini sustains them ?

… rather limiting definition of Kundalini.

Kundalini is more much much more she is at first just prana, then as you become aware of her presence you see her as the devi force that presides you, she becomes shakti – the very shakti which propels the mind & the body to commune with & understand your true immutable self. When you finally fall into the devi’s arms and she holds you fully there. She is love; it is not a question of how much she loves you. Finding her you find that you are also love. ..

So for me Kundalini is not shidis & powers but a devine presence as stated in this

lovely Poem.

Namaste,

Fin

Kundalini yoga is not an easy path. It looks like improperly practised, without the guidance of a guru, can lead to unpleasant effects.

In my opinion, Hubert is quite right saying that there is no short cut to it.

Take e.g. the classic book "Hatha Yoga Pradipika." It says that you have first to master the asanas. Generally it takes 12 years to do it. Maybe less, maybe more, depending on the practitioner. Yoga takes a lifetime of practice.

You are stating here the obvious, yet, that it is not meant for that does not mean it can't be used. If you think that just your mental acception of the fact that it's not meant for selfish needs, and this "Not right" label will stop you misusing them, however, you are wrong. That's why you don't have it , yet.
