What was your first impression of Yoga?

I am exposed to Yoga since childhood as it was part of our curriculum. We had a weekly class. But it did not impress me much. In fact till 8-9 years ago I used to think it is exercise for the lazy people. After I read the book Light on Yoga and tried to do some of the initial asanas my life changed. I realized that this the mission of my life which I was searching for a long time.

I would be interested in knowing from others also.

Namaste Nilendu,

I think you might know the the say: "When the student is ready the guru will appear." For me this was certainly true about yoga (I see the guru as many aspects and not necessarily a living person). Although I knew about yoga from about 15 years old, I only started to practice yoga when I was about 26, first at home and then later I enrolled for proper classes. Today, in hindsight, I can say that if I started yoga earlier I would have lost interest in it very quickly and would have never progressed on the path of yoga to where I am today. So the Divine timing is perfect according to each person's understanding and spiritual development and evolution.
