i'm interested in becoming very flexible, and being able to do incredible things. is it possible for a 35 year old male in not the best shape but not in the worst shaspe either, to transform them self to be able to do things like breathing with one lung at a time, getting out of a straight jacket, sucking my guts up under my rib cage, becoming a bit of a contortionist etc. What is reasonable expectations? Where would I go to learn?

Will the practice of yoga work for you? Yes.

Will the practice of yoga do what you want it to do for you? Not necessarily.

There's a saying, "Let the practice do its work". For the first couple years I practiced yoga, I had goals and expectations of where I wanted to be. I'd crank myself into poses and tried to force my way towards my ego based goals. I would get frustrated because I didn't seem to get any closer to my goals. It wasn't until I took a step back and began to FEEL the practice that I started to feel the transformation. While I have gained strength and flexibility, other areas of transformation have been much more profound.

Will you gain flexibility? Likely. Will you be able to do the other things you mentioned? Possibly. With disciplined, sincere practice will you discover something infinitely more valuable than what you listed? I'd personally bet on it
