Hrid dhauti anyone?

panoramix2010-07-04 17:38:02 +0000 #1

I got troubles to make the muslin cloth slide down my throat, even with water.

How can one swallow it? It looks something impossible for me.

Thank you!

I've never tried so can't advise, but I believe you are suppose to soak the cloth in milk first? Have you done that? I don't really like the idea, but let us know how it goes!

These cleansing methods (Shat Karma) should be done under the guidance of an expert or guru only. If the practice is problematic such that the student needs to inquire over the internet then my advice is to stop.

My recommendation is aligned with what IA has already offered you. You should be working directly with an Ayurvedic therapist for benefit. What should be considered is that the benefits that are available through any of the karmas are available only if done precisely and properly. If done otherwise, you are quite likely to exacerbate your current conditions and create additional dis-ease; conditions due to wrong practices will only add to your current troubles.

Please use your best judgment regarding attempting these karmas alone or without a well-trained Ayurvedic practioner.

Kind regards,

Hi all!

The problem is that in the region i live in (the land of chops and cider), expert guidance is scarce or better said none.

Milk? It's the first time i hear about this. To my understanding milk should be drank just after the practice. It might be a variant of the practice.

Thank you all.

Hi Panoramix,

where did you learn to do this dhauti? and why do you want it? Maybe there is something else you can do that has results you want?

Do not attempt vastra dhauti without expert guidance ( quote page 501 ; asana pranayama mudra bandha from Yoga publications trust Munger Bihar school of Yoga India)

And what country is that were you live? chops and cider I don not know.

If practice is needed for your sadhana there is always help. Or others will help you find it.

Sending you love and light

Hi and thanks Louise!

I'm from the north coast of Spain.

The aim of the practice is cleansing my throat and stomach.

Sometimes i feel an stagnated taste/smell in throat, i would like to get rid of those toxins.

Best regards

Dear panoramix,

You can try gargle with mirretinctuur few drops in water ( buy in drugstore).

Or with salted water ( 1 tablespoon/litre)

Chew on leaf from parsley ( if you eat garlic)

What toxins are that? Maybe you need a change in diet? It is best to consult an ayurvedic therapist foor advice on that.

warm greeting Louise

Dear Louise,

Can gargles clear the whole tract?
louise molenkamp2010-07-04 18:14:52 +0000 #10
No gargles will only clean the throat and mouth. That is were the taste is and the smell. Maybe it is not enough. I do not know what toxins you want to get rid off. And where the smell comes from. You have to be more specific for detailed answers. It can be your teeth, your stomach ( acid), the way you eat, do you smoke?

greetings Louise

I don't smoke.

I feel like there are phlegms/mucus deep in the tract that i can't get rid of.

Sometimes i also suffer an aggressive heartburn.

As to toxicity, i refer to rotten, little, white food pieces i occasionally find in extracted phlegms.
