Is there SYT for carpal tunnel syndrome?

Hi everyone,

someone who practices hatha yoga in my class asked me if there are any yoga exercises for carpal tunnel syndrom. She doesnot want an operation and the treatment she had ( stretching) was very painfull. It did work but now she has recidive.

I am hatha yoga teacher and not a SYT.

Is there any known Structural yoga therapy for carpal tunnel syndrom and do you know some one who is qualified for that so i can tell my student to go there. Or do you have some general advise for her.We live in Holland Hoorn near amsterdam

thank you people for helping

Namaste Louise

Hello Louise,

Here is a recommendation of Mukunda's on CTS: www.yogaforums.com/f...tis-question-88.html . You may also be interested in reading the SYT paper on repeative strain injury found on Mukunda's site.: yogatherapycenter.org/SYT%20Papers.html

IAYT: www.iayt.org/ is another resource on Yoga therapeutics and research.

Kind regards,

Goedendag Louise,

With all due respect to Nichole, due to my work (graphic design) I suffer regularly from carpal tunnel syndrome. The only thing that works for me is accupuncture, again it is for me and this is my experience, it might be different for others. I have found that the other meassures takes too long to show results and unfortunately when I am on a deadline with a publication I cannot wait days for the CTS to get better as the printer and my clients cannot wait either. The pain associated with CTS is terrible and one needs relief from it asap. Please also ask your yogi to consider this option.

Hallo Pandara en Nicole,

Thank you both very much on behalf of my student. I will tell her.

I do not have RSI or CTS but my joints did hurt a lot too.

The Joint free series i do regularly for 4 months now and it is much better. So i wonder maybe the joint free series can prevent things from getting worse?

Wishing you all to be free from pain and be happy

Louise
