ive been experiencing this ravenous hunger lately and i dont know what the reason for it is. i feed myself well and then whenever its a meal time im like my dog, i go wild and scarf everything down. does anyone else experience this? does anyone have any ideas as to why this may be? does anyone have any ideas on what i can do? thank you, Blessings.

What is your activity level like, how many calories are you consuming, in what proportions (protein/carbs/fat) and how are you hydrating yourself?

i dont count my calories but i think im getting more than enough. the only exercise that i do is yoga, every day at least 2 hours but not all at once. i do about 1 1/2 in the morning and throughout the day i do more lunar meditation based yoga for about 1 hour and 15 minutes total.

I remember when I started yoga initially it somehow changed my diet drastically in the beginning. From a meat eater I went to vegetarian within two years of starting with yoga, stopped drinking alcohol and in general wanted to eat more healthy foods etc. Then there was a point in year four, my goodness, I was like you said ravenous, I felt like eating everything in my house after yoga, and boy was I thirsty, would drink about 2-3 liters of water after yoga, (and I did drank enough water prior to yoga during the day) fortunately this lasted only about two months and then it subsided. My own yoga teacher explained to me that I was going through a karmic purification process and that I must allow it to happen and she assured me that it would end soon. Well it did, and years later I realised once during a meditation that I have completed a huge chunk of karma during that phase.

We must remember that yoga is not just about physical asanas, but that on other levels things also happens and sometimes we cannot understand why something happens or why all of a sudden we experience certain pains etc, as my teacher explained many of these experiences are a direct result of the purification process that yoga initiates in your life. We don't understand always why, but some karma is completed during these processes.

Good luck and perhaps you need to show some TLC to your body.

Namaste Pandara, thank you for your reply. That is incredibly insightful. I have been feeling very thirsty as well. Another thing that ive been experiencing has been tiredness. I want to go to sleep very early and need to take a nap almost everyday in the afternoon. Do you think thats related too? I do feel like ive been going through alot of internal changes lately. There are some poses that i hold, without attachment, and yet i might get really angry or emotional without any explanation. Im becoming very aware of my body and my mind. I know its wonderful but sometimes its confusing or scary. Thank you again for the reasurrance.

PS: What is TLC?
