Beginner Yoga

Hi to all,

I am a beginner in Yoga and I just want to know what kind of poses are suitable for me.

I always ride a bus going home and it gives me a lot of stress.

Please give me some advice on how to start and also, some stress-buster yoga positions.

Are you 20 or 60? Are you male or female?

Are you well or infirmed?

Do you have a sedentary or active life?

Asanas that are appropriate for a beginner will vary from one style of yoga to the next. And sometimes they will vary within that discipline from one teacher (or Ego) to the next.

The approapriate poses for a beginner in Purna Yoga would be:

Tadasana

The classical Surya Namaskar

Virasana on pads (and the Opening Series that goes with it)

Hip series

Morning series

Adho Mukha Svanasana

Trikonasana

Parsvakonasana

Virabhadrasana II

Uttanasana

Ardha Uttanasana (hands at the wall)

Bhujangasana

Setu Bandha

Ardha Badha Padmasana

Marichyasana (variation)

Matseyengasana

Savasana
