I have been doing sun salutations every morning for the past 2 weeks with some added yoga postures as well, but it has only been the last two weeks that I start out every session with them. Now, like clockwork I have to poop after yoga, and it is a very healthy one. Is there something about the sun salutation that makes this happen? I am not complaining because it is necessary and it is very easy, not a time consuming thing. after yoga I feel the need to and less then a minute later I am done. I would like to know what is the yogic scientific explanation of what is being stimulated to make this happen so clockwork like.

Could just be that you're in a new, healthy routine. I don't think it's particularly sun salutations.

I have done yoga on a good routine before for months on end and did not have this effect. I also am doing headstands, shoulder stands, and backbends every time as well now, which I also did not do much of before.. sometimes I do more postures but I am doing these every time. I really do believe there is some part of the postures that is causing this.

The colon has a particular, assymetric setup, having an ascending, transverese and descending part. The ascending part is on the right side, and descending one on the left side. If you do exercises what compress the right side of your abdomen first, followed shortly by exercises what compress the left side, you enforce the elimination of it's content.
