Hi everyone!

Can someone give me advice on ways to make my knees more flexible? I feel like they are so tight in certain poses, like Heron and Hero.

Any tips?

I'm interested in the same. My knees feel like they're holding up my yoga.

Hello. It is most common for people in general to refer to the joints as being tight which is only partially accurate. The muscles that surround any given joint are more likely to be the culprits although the actual joint capsule can become stiffened and inpliable. Be sure to address the entire leg because there are so many muscles that come into and around the knee joint both from below and above. Also, when looking into lenghthening muscles for long term change, keep in mind it's best to stay in a posture for 2 minutes minimum. The quicker the movements in and out of a posture the more likely the muscles and related fascia will tense up again given little gain. Consider also the movement of the pelvis as related to the knees therefore be warey of locking the knees, always maintain a small micro-bend at the knees and when lengthening the hamstrings be sure it's not all about pressing the knees back in fact they ought to be lengthened but not strained at all. Be patient, use deep slow openers and metaphorically you might like to ask yourself if there is a "next step" in your life you are hesitant to take. Also, stay warm at all times.
