Noisy joints!

Hello to all! Wondered if you could answer a question for me?

I have been doing Yoga classes (Hatha+Iyenger) regularly for about 2 years now and love it.

I feel so much better but my only concern is that the more I practice and the looser I get the more my joints seem to crack/crick including my spine in bends and twists. There is no pain but I find it worrying especially the back!

Is this normal/bad/good?

Many thanks

PS in some poses I can carry a decent tune

Hi,

I posted this : www.trinityyoga.net/...s_cracking_too_much/ on our blog: www.trinityyoga.net/blog/ .

The sounds emitted from the joints are in my understanding a change in the pressure thus releasing the inherent pockets of gases and recalibrating. I understand through chiropractors that if there is no associated pain there is likely nothing negative however, your practise ought to be generating as much integrity and strength alongside flexibility as possible.

Hello

Ayurveda says that cracking joints are a sign of Vata-dosha accumulation. Vata dosha is cold and dry.

So you may benefit from oil massages. Luke warm olive oil is very good (do not use cold oil), it adds lubrification and flexibility for the stiff and dryied joints.

Having an excessive amount of Vata-dosha into your joints, there are good chances that your skin is pretty dry, also. If so, use oil massage on large areas of your body, on regular basis - you will soon feel your body in a total different, better, full of energy way.
